Planning a Wedding in Malta
This September I am heading off to the beautiful island of Malta for Keighley and Matt’s gorgeous European destination wedding. I first started working with Keighley and Matt in 2017 after they realised that they would need the help of a London based wedding planner to plan their dream wedding in Malta. Our first meeting took place at The Ned in the City of London and we spent the afternoon talking through ideas and getting to know each other. The brief was simple; a beautiful fun filled wedding in the sun with their family and friends, with good food, good music and a great time.
Finding the perfect wedding venue in Malta
Keighley and Matt have a shared love for history and architecture, so it was really important this was reflected in their destination wedding venue. Malta was an obvious choice, given its rich culture and long history dating back many hundreds of years. After lots of research ,Villa Bologna was decided upon as the wedding venue. Situated in the historical area of Valetta, it is a stunning and elegant 18th century country house, still lived in by successors of the family that built it in 1745. In addition to hosting the day at Villa Bologna, Keighley and Matt decided that they would like to carry on the dancing and decided to hire an additional venue for the after party. Continuing with the historical theme, they opted to host their wedding after party at The Vaults, a converted World War II bunker located in the Maltese countryside.
Celebrating in style
As Keighley and Matt have asked their guests to travel a considerable distance to Malta for their wedding, they decided that they would like to host several events in the days before and days after their wedding. The day before the wedding, guests will be invited for cocktails at the spectacular Hilton in St Julian’s Bay, followed by a fabulous Villa Party the day after the wedding at a top secret location. The day after this, a final farewell has been organised on board the Hera, a stunning boat that will cruise around Malta’s Mediterranean coast, taking in the beautiful sights and giving guests a chance to swim in the deliciously azure sea.
Meeting with Wedding suppliers in Malta
In April 2019, myself, Keighley and Matt packed our bags and headed to Malta for our first planning meeting. As well as visiting Villa Bologna and The Vaults, we also met with a number of other wedding suppliers, that had been carefully chosen based on Keighley and Matt’s requirements. We met with Alistair Floral Design, one of Malta’s top wedding florists at their workshop and discussed the floral design for the wedding. Following this, we met with Corinthia Caterers, Malta’s premier wedding caterer and enjoyed a delicious menu tasting and of course sampled lots of wine! We also met with Andrew Gauci Attard of Imagine Photography, who has been chosen to photograph Keighley and Matt’s stunning wedding.
